ENERGY TONIC Formula - Dangshen & Astragalus - Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang
Indications:
Traditionally used in Chinese medicine to replenish Qi. Bu Zhong Yi Qi Tang is traditionally used to invigorate the Spleen, strengthen the Stomach, and lift the sunken Middle Qi. It is indicated for general debility following severe illness, chronic fatigue syndrome, general weakness, chronic illness (such as chronic enteritis and chronic pharyngitis), and internal organ prolapse.
Signs & Symptoms:
General debility after severe illness, chronic fatigue syndrome, general weakness, chronic illness (e.g. chronic enteritis, chronic pharyngitis), and internal organ prolapse.
Actions of the Main Herbs:
Traditionally used to tonify the Spleen and Stomach (Middle Jiao) Qi, raise the Yang Qi of the Middle Jiao, and also tonify the Lung Qi and the Wei (Defence) Qi. Traditionally used to invigorate the Spleen, strengthen the Stomach, and lift the sunken Middle Qi.
Dosage & Course of Treatment:
Adults: Take 3 capsules, twice daily, one hour away from food, or as directed by your healthcare professional.

Astragalus membranaceus (Huang Qi) extract – 46.8 mg (equivalent to 280.8 mg dry root)
Codonopsis pilosula (Mi Zhi Dang Shen) extract – 46.8 mg (equivalent to 280.8 mg dry root)
Atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu) extract – 46.8 mg (equivalent to 280.8 mg dry rhizome)
Angelica polymorpha (Dong Quai) extract – 37.5 mg (equivalent to 225 mg dry root)
Ziziphus jujuba var. spinosa (Da Zao) extract – 31.2 mg (equivalent to 187.2 mg dry fruit)
Bupleurum falcatum (Chai Hu) extract – 28.2 mg (equivalent to 169.2 mg dry root)
Actaea racemosa (Sheng Ma) extract – 18.9 mg (equivalent to 113.4 mg dry rhizome)
Citrus reticulata (Chen Pi) extract – 18.9 mg (equivalent to 113.4 mg dry fruit peel)
Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Gan Cao) extract – 15.6 mg (equivalent to 93.6 mg dry root)
Zingiber officinale (Sheng Jiang) extract – 9.3 mg (equivalent to 55.8 mg dry rhizome)

Cautions & Contraindications:
Use with caution if taking anti-coagulant medications (e.g. heparin, warfarin, or aspirin). If taking antibiotics, allow at least 90 minutes before taking this formula. Do not use in cases of Liver Yang hyperactivity or headaches due to Excess Heat or Fire. Contains Glycyrrhiza, which may potentiate prednisone and corticosteroids by prolonging their biological half-life; use with caution in patients with hypertension.
