Dangshen & Ginger Formula (Modified)

Indications:
Cold patterns affecting the Spleen and Kidneys, including chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, digestive weakness, fatigue, cold intolerance, and Yang deficiency with more pronounced internal cold.

Signs & Symptoms:

Actions of the Main Herbs:
Aconite root (Fu Zi) strongly warms and revives Kidney and Spleen Yang, dispels internal cold, and alleviates pain associated with cold deficiency.

Ginseng (Ren Shen) tonifies Qi, strengthens the Spleen, and supports overall vitality and digestion.

Atractylodes macrocephala (Bai Zhu) strengthens the Spleen, dries dampness, and improves digestive function.

Dried ginger (Gan Jiang) warms the middle burner, supports digestion, and helps resolve cold accumulation in the abdomen.

Licorice root (Gan Cao) harmonizes the formula, supports Qi, and moderates the effects of the other herbs.

Dosage & Course of Treatment:
Take 8–12 pills, three times daily, 30–60 minutes away from meals. Dosage may be adjusted depending on severity and practitioner guidance. Treatment duration typically ranges from several weeks to longer-term use in chronic deficiency conditions.

Ingredients:
– Aconitum carmichaelii, processed root (附子, Fu Zi)
– Panax ginseng (人參)
– Atractylodes macrocephala, rhizome (白朮)

– Glycyrrhiza uralensis, root (甘草)

(“Jia Wei” versions may include additional herbs depending on the manufacturer to enhance warming, Qi-tonifying, or digestive-supporting actions.)

Cautions & Contraindications:
Use only under qualified practitioner supervision due to the presence of aconite (Fu Zi), which must be properly processed and dosed. Avoid use in cases of heat, Yin deficiency with heat signs, or damp-heat conditions. Caution with concurrent use of cardiovascular, antihypertensive, or other medications. Not recommended during pregnancy without professional guidance. Avoid alcohol and stimulants.
